Providing an alternative option for wellness with quality hand-crafted products

As we have talked about before, the primary function of the ECS is to help maintain homeostasis, which is the natural balance of biological systems in response to internal and external changes that would otherwise cause the body to behave abnormally.

Just like the other systems in your body there are ways to strengthen your ECS:

  1. Increase omega-3 fatty acids:

Omega-3 is essential in the creation of CB-1 receptors that are within our central nervous system. Omega-3 fatty acids are abundant in hemp plants especially the seeds.

Chia seeds, flax seeds, walnuts, anchovies, sardines, and eggs are also high in omega-3 Fatty acids.

       2. Eat endocannabinoid boosting foods:

Coffee- regular caffeine consumption has been shown to enhance the activation of cb-1 receptors by endocannabinoids.

Vegetables high in vitamin c such as broccoli, cauliflower, green peppers, and spinach help the ECS absorb CBD.

Herbs like cinnamon, oregano, cloves, lemon balm, and black pepper contain the terpene beta-caryophyllene which helps stimulate the cb-2 receptors within our peripheral nervous system

Chocolate or Cacao Powder have compounds similar to endocannabinoids on a molecular level this is most abundant in dark chocolate

Teas like echinacea and turmeric can help raise endocannabinoid levels, stimulate cb-2 receptors, and help stop endocannabinoids from breaking down.

      3. Manage Stress- periods of prolonged stress deter the repairing and development of ECS receptors. Also increased levels of the stress hormone cortisol interferes with the function of cb-1 receptors.

      4. Lower Alcohol consumption: Binge and heavy drinking reduce the receptors ability to process endocannabinoids.

      5. Use phytocannabinoids such as CBD and THC; they are both available in many forms.

      6. Cold exposure-Research has shown that cold exposure increases the density of cb-1 receptors as well as the production of endocannabinoids

      7. Sex hormones- male and female sex hormones stimulate the ecs.

      8. Probiotics-Research has suggested that some probiotics can stimulate and support the endocannabinoid system. One study found that a specific probiotic species called lactobacillus acidophilus increases the expression of cb2 receptors.

      9.  Exercise regularly- exercise increases the production of anandamide one of the main endocannabinoids created within our bodies

With a healthy ECS your body can function at it’s most optimal level.
